{KETO} Egg Roll in a Bowl
Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl is a one-pan dinner made in 15 minutes and is packed with protein and flavor. Made with either ground pork or beef, this Keto recipe tastes just like an Asian egg roll but without the egg roll wrapper.
KETO EGG ROLL IN A BOWL
As I have voiced recently, all my loved ones around me have been doing the Keto diet. Although I haven’t jumped on board yet, I have heard, researched, and cooked all things Keto for the last couple of months. I feel like my life revolves around Keto.
In fact, I joked that any time someone says the word “Keto” around me they have to put a dollar in the swear jar. If you don’t know what a swear jar is, you’ll probably never waited tables in college.
This Egg Roll in a Bowl is not only Keto but is also a regular dish that I make for the family whether or not they are on the Keto diet.
WHY IS THIS KETO OR LOW-CARB?
Don’t be scared if you aren’t on the Keto diet. The Keto diet is a very low-carb diet which makes this recipe perfect with a net carb of 3 grams.
WHAT IS IN EGG ROLL IN A BOWL?
Egg rolls have ground pork (or beef), cabbage, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil in them. We added some sriracha and green onions to the top for flavor.
DOES AN EGG ROLL HAVE AN EGG IN IT?
A traditional egg roll does not have egg in it but gets its name from the egg in the egg roll wrapper that wraps it all up. We add an egg at the end of cooking this Egg Roll in the Bowl because we love the flavor and extra protein it gives.
If you are doing the Keto diet, eggs are your best friend and are a great addition to this Asian Egg Roll in a Bowl.
WHAT KIND OF MEAT DO I USE?
You can use either pork or beef in this recipe. When eating Keto, it’s really important to have high quality meat that has healthy fat in it.
Grass-fed, organic meat is:
- lower in calories
- contains healthy fats and is high in omega 3s
- supports normal blood sugar levels
We buy Butcher Box for our meat selection and they have offered to $20 off here.
WHAT TO EAT WITH EGG ROLL IN A BOWL?
To be honest, usually nothing. It’s a meal all in one!

Egg Roll in a Bowl
This Egg Roll in a Bowl comes together in 15 minutes and is packed with protein and flavor. Made with either ground pork or beef, cabbage, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, and green onions.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (16 ounces) ground pork or beef
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 14 ounces shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (or liquid aminos)
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons sriracha
- 1 whole egg
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
Instructions
In a large skillet, brown the pork or beef until no longer pink. Drain the meat if it's really wet. Add the garlic and sautee for 30 seconds. Add the cabbage/coleslaw, soy sauce, ginger, and sautee until desired tenderness. You can add a little water if you need more liquid to sautee the coleslaw down.
Make a well in the center of the skillet and add the egg. Scramble until done over low heat.
Stir in sriracha. Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with green onions. Add additional soy sauce and sriracha if desired.

This is very simple and delicious! First time making it tonight. Next time I will lower amount of liquid aminos as I find 1/4cup too salty. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
This is genius! And such a refreshing change from my keto lunch salads. I used ground turkey and it was super yummy. Love the sesame oil, adds the perfect level of flavor! I have lost 7 more pounds as of today, this will definitely help me keep going. Thank you!
Great recipe! My husband and I are doing Keto for the 1st time and this is a great addition to my recipes. Have made it twice in the past two weeks, and my husband requested we add it to our regular meal rotation even post-Keto. Very tasty. I used fresh ginger instead of ground. The addition of the sesame oil at the end is a must! Thanks for the delicious recipe!
I just made this and it was absolutely delish. Thanks for sharing
OMG! So delicious! Couldn’t stop eating it! I didn’t feel guilty, fit my dietary restrictions.
This was easy to make and came out amazing! Will definitely be making it again, I think I might throw some edamame in it next time
This was a great recipe! I followed it as it’s written. I did end up experimenting with the left overs and found the addition of an over easy egg on the top is wonderful. Also I added a 4 net carb tortilla, grilled as a cheese quesadilla with some seasoning, and finely chopped green onion inside. Grilled in a cast iron skillet with butter and sliced into triangle cuts, it was perfect to accompany the bowl and dip in the egg. Thanks !!! Great find here and the whole family loved it.
Wow! genius!
Delicious recipe AND very flexible and very forgiving! Did I mention fast? And helps me put to good use last bits of meat or veggies in the fridge. Thank you
You’re welcome!
I love this! It’s a great meal prep food. I add 2 eggs tho, extra garlic and extra Sriracha plus I add mushrooms after sauteeing them in garlic. I ..then spoon into lettuce because it gives it a great texture over all.
Yum! Great idea!
This recipe is SO GOOD!!! My whole family loved it! Super quick and easy (I used Jimmy Dean pork sausage and half broccoli slaw/half coleslaw. Also, coconut aminos for my soy sauce). Thank you so much for sharing!!
So happy you liked it!
This is going to be a recipe that is on our rotation now. I made it tonight and my husband ate most of it. He is on his third bowel of it. Its rare I find a recipe he likes this much. Thank you.
Very good! Didn’t think my husband would like this but he surprised me. Accidentally added sesame oil while cooking…oops. It still turned out great!
Amazing meal! My family scarfed it up on no time. So easy to prepare!
So happy to hear that!
This was amazing!! Made it with ground pork last week and ground beef today!
Yum!
Love this one as is, but today I used half broccoli slaw and half just shredded green cabbage, threw in a small bit of red onion since I didn’t have green onion/scallions, and used ginger puree instead of ground. Yummy all around!!
I’ll have to try it with broccoli slaw.
Love it as is. Made with pork. My hubby added a tad more soy and black pepper. This one is keeper. I am keto so don’t plan to add more veggies next time.
Thank you!
I used mild Italian ground sausage to add a bit of kick because I didn’t have sriracha. Yummy
Spicy turkey sausage is also great and adds a kick!
Yum!
Cant seem to find it in the recipe, do you have an estimate on the macros? New to keto and need to really keep track so i dont want to buy all the ingredients if it has too much carbs
yes. It’s at the bottom of the recipe card.
For myself, I would omit sesame oil and sriracha, add more cabbage. I used coleslaw mix and added more shredded carrots.
We all like it different. The sesame oil gives it great flavor.
I make this with a bag of organic Broccoli Slaw in addition to the cabbage slaw. I also use Bob Evans “Naturally” pork sausage. (NO MSG or any additives!)
This is Just soooo delish ! It does make a ton of filling ! Can left overs be frozen ?
So I’m a little confused, the nutrition info here says 331 cal per serving but when I put the recipe into my fitness pal to track, it comes up as 434 cal. That’s a pretty big difference. Any idea why? I’m just logging it as standard ingredients
Yes. Each brand is very different and can vary. Always look for the lowest calorie brand if that’s what you’re concerned about.
The sesame oil is. Must for flavor
This was easy and delicious — I made it exactly as the recipe above. Next time, I would double the cabbage, I am not too concerned about carbs but mostly trying to get low calorie protein. I will try ground turkey next time, too. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
I did this today and my oh my it was delicious!!!! I substituted the meat with ground turkey. Def need to double up the cabbage, i know for next time! But it was DELICIOUS!
So happy to hear that!!
We made this tonight and it was good, next time we might double the coleslaw mix and do shrimp instead!
Great idea!
This is one of my favorite recipes! I do however add a few large handfuls of rinsed bean sprouts to it instead extra coleslaw as most egg rolls have them in it and it is amazing!
Great twist!
I wish I would have read the comments before making this, the cabbage/coleslaw really needs doubled maybe tripled. I’ll make it again next week.
If you’re doing Keto you really don’t want all that cabbage because it increases the carbs.
Regarding keto, its not at all bad because of the net carbs. A large cabbage may contains about 72 g of carbs which 31 g is actually fiber. So essentially a large cabbage has 41 g of carbs and cooking the whole cabbage plus dividing it in appropriate portions (e.g 4), a meal would contain approx. 10 g of carbs. And that’s using the large cabbage so keep that in mind!
This is an OUTSTANDING recipe! My family devoured it like no tomorrow. Thank you for providing such a wonderful blend of flavors and combinations. Though, I did substitute a keto friendly pork sausage for the meat in mine.
