FRESH MANGO SALSA RECIPE

Sweet and spicy, this mango salsa is great with just tortilla chips or on top of grilled chicken, shrimp tacos, or fish tacos. If you’ve been here a while you know that salsas are kind of my thing. I’m never not looking to up my salsa game.

I have this Greek salsa, this Corn Salsa, or this Fruit salsa for a sweet ending to a meal. I even have a Watermelon salsa. This mango salsa is an amazing recipe with fresh flavor. It’s the perfect combination of spicy jalapeños and juicy mangos.

INGREDIENTS

  • MANGOS – The sweetness of the mango compliments the spicy. Sweet mangos are best.
  • RED BELL PEPPER – This gives the salsa a nice crunch.
  • JALAPENO PEPPER – Leave the seeds in if you like it extra spicy.
  • FRESH CILANTRO
  • FRESH LIME JUICE
  • RED ONION – You can also use white onion or green onions but I love the color and flavor of a red onion.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF A MANGO IS RIPE?

A ripe mango will give slightly when squeezed. You don’t want it too mushy or you’ll have bad spots. Ripe mangos will have a sweet aroma. To ripen your mango, leave at room temperature on the counter.mango salsa with a chip

Mango season varies but in the United States it’s from March to August.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 large mangos, peeled and cubed
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced , (about 1 cup)
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • juice of one lime
  • salt and pepper to taste

  • In a medium bowl, add all of the ingredients. Toss together. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with chips or over fish or chicken. Store leftover mango salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
