EASY BLACKBERRY COBBLER RECIPE

My neighbor is out of town for the summer and texted all of us neighbors to go over to her backyard and pick all the blackberries we wanted from her blackberry bushes. You don’t have to tell me twice. Nothing is better than fresh blackberries.

If you’re looking for an old-fashioned blackberry cobbler recipe that hits all of those cravings, this is it. Juicy berries nestled in warm golden brown cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s one of our favorite summer dessert recipes on repeat.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS BLACKBERRY COBBLER

  • It’s quick and easy. It can be in the oven in 5 minutes. No need to run to the grocery store. You probably already have all of the ingredients for this delicious dessert.
  • You can use fresh blackberries during blackberry season or frozen blackberries in the offseason.
  • This is one of those cobbler recipes you can use any fruit you like!

BLACKBERRY COBBLER INGREDIENTS

  • ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR – Originally in my peach cobbler recipe, I used self-rising flour but most people don’t have that on hand so I add baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • SUGAR – A little sugar in the batter and a little on top for crunch. You might not need the whole cup of sugar depending on the ripeness of your berries. You can adjust the amount of sugar as needed.
  • WHOLE MILK – Any milk will do but I prefer full fat milk.
  • UNSALTED BUTTER
  • VANILLA EXTRACT
  • LEMON ZEST – This is optional but adds so much in my opinion. You can use a splash of lemon juice as well.
  • BLACKBERRIES – Fresh is best but frozen can also be used. Just thaw and pat dry.Blackberry Cobbler

BLACKBERRY COBBLER VS BLACKBERRY CRISP

Cobblers usually have a biscuit like crust whereas crisps usually have oats or nuts in them.

Notes

You can use less sugar in the blackberry filling if your blackberries are really sweet.
