To say I enjoyed my holidays might be an understatement. It’s that time of year when the gym is packed and everyone is searching for easy healthy recipes to meet their nutritional goals.

The seasonings are simple. Salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
CHICKEN RECIPES:
Do I have to use boneless chicken breasts in this recipe? No. You can use chicken thighs or chicken tenders in this dish.
Asparagus is a great veggie for one-pan meals because it cooks quickly.
DO I HAVE TO USE ALL THE BUTTER?
Ever since I’ve done the Keto diet I’m not afraid of fat like butter. If you want, you can definitely cut the butter down for this recipe.
CAN I USE A DIFFERENT VEGGIE?
Asparagus works great here but you can also use broccoli, zucchini, green beans, or even Brussels sprouts.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH THIS?
This is a full meal in itself but if you want to spread it out serve over rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.

One-Pan Garlic Butter Chicken
Ingredients
CHICKEN SEASONING:
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, (see note)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon Italian parsley, minced
Instructions
- Place chicken in a medium bowl and toss with the spices (salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper).
- In a large skillet, melt over medium low heat half of the butter (1/4 cup) and 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
- Cook the chicken in the butter until all sides are golden brown being careful not to burn the butter. Add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for about 30 seconds. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet increase heat to medium high, add the remaining 1 teaspoon minced garlic then add the chicken broth to deglaze the pan. Add the remaining 1/4 cup butter, lemon juice, and sriracha.
- Add the asparagus and cook to desired tenderness. Add the chicken back to the pan and stir for another minute to reheat. Garnish the chicken and asparagus with parsley and lemon slices. Serve.
This was yummy. I used about half the amount of butter which was plenty. Next time I’ll decrease the amount of salt. All in all this is a keeper.
Thank you.
Did you use kosher salt? Table salt will be too salty.
Super quick! Super easy! Made with Brussels sprouts. Hubby said “best quick dish ever.” He always gets a little nervous with cut up chicken because he is afraid it will dry out but nope!! All good! Served with rice. So much flavor!
Thank you!
This was awesome! So delicious! I served it with gluten free penne pasta, and with Parmesan cheese. Yum
Yummy!
I made an attempt at this recipe. We no sriracha so mixed up ketchup, red pepper and garlic butter. No one here like asparagus, so I used carrots and zucchini. Turned out good, but it wasn’t very saucy so we made do. It was really good though. Thank you for the recipe.
You’re welcome!
Can I use salted butter? Any changes?
Yes but I recommend using less salt in the actual recipe.
Yes but you need to cut down on the salt in the recipe.
Did anyone have trouble browning the chicken ? For some reason my chicken let out alot of liquid so it really didnt get to brown … maybe my pan is too small?
try sautéing the chicken at a higher temperature 😉
My husband is pickier than our kids so dinners are a challenge. They ALL loved this recipe. Thank you!!!
Thank you!
Thank you for this tasty, quick recipe the family loves. Will definitely make it again.
Thank you!
Turned out great
Thank you!
I followed the directions. The chicken cooked though before it browned.
Just cook until it’s done. Brown is just an indicator.
Looking for a quick chicken recipe I came across this and so glad I did! It was delicious! I substituted with vegetable stock, broccoli and cauliflower as that’s what I had on hand. My husband loved it! Definitely will make again. Thanks!
Awesome to hear that!
I made this with green beans instead and added extra sriracha sauce and it was a hit!
I bet green beans are great!
Very tasty! My two year old loved it!
So happy to hear that!
Found this recipe at the last minute before heading to the store, and it turned out being one of my favorites I’ve ever made! The single pan is super easy and the sauce tasted great. I highly recommend it, it was quick too.
Awesome thank you!
I made this for dinner tonight and it was a hit with my husband. I added extra chicken broth so I would have more sauce because I put this over angel-hair pasta for my husband. I personally just ate the chicken and asparagus and it was delicious. I will definitely make this again.
Awesome to hear this!
My 2 young kids are picky eaters, I put the chicken and sauce over some white rice, and the devoured it. They didnt eat the asparagus, but I already knew they wouldn’t. My oldest, my wife and I really loved this. Very easy to cook
That makes me happy to hear!
Just made this tonight with broccoli as I didn’t have asparagus. It is a keeper! We all loved it. One note: I doubled the recipe and next time I would not double the chicken broth for deglazing.
Thanks for the feedback.
This was an instant favorite with my family! We served it with rice for the carb eaters. The sauce with the lemon and sriracha is outstanding! Might add more veggies next time but definitely saving this one.
So happy to hear this!
Fast, easy and delicious. I didn’t have asparagus and sriracha. So added mix vegetables to it and was delicious. My mother-in-law love it and asked me for the recipe.
So glad you liked it!
Amazing Recipe. I am glad I came through this post. Lots of love from Mubeenz Comic Cooking
Thank you!
Do you know the serving size and calories in this?
There are 4 servings so just the whole dish divided by 4. I would use MyFitnessPal to enter the ingredients since brands vary so much.
My comment is mainly on the chicken and sauce as I cooked the asparagus separately. I used plant-based butter and lemon-pepper seasoning as I did not have Italian seasoning on hand. The sauce came out a light lemony, buttery taste and my husband and daughter loved it. I caught them sipping on the sauce in between bites. This recipe goes great with rice. This will be one of the recipes on rotation in my kitchen. Thanks for sharing!
So happy to hear that!
I don’t have Sriracha, is there a substitute I can use?
Your choice of hot sauce? It just adds a kick. Add your favorite spicy seasoning or sauce.
Thanks! I ended up using cayenne pepper and it turned out great! I’ve made it a couple times and it’s what I’m making tonight for dinner! My family loves it 🙂
My 15 yo is incredibly picky and never likes sauces or gravy on his food. I always cook things like this with just the spices and then separate some for him before I make the sauce. He likes this sauce!!! Definitely a first for us! Adding this to my list of approved recipes.
Awesome to hear that!
I tripled all of the ingredients (except for chicken and butter) because I wanted more sauce. Instead of the then 1 1/2 cups of chicken broth I used 2 cups. It was amazing, I’m sure it will be wonderful as written too. Even my brother liked it and he is a super picky eater! It may look and smell like the spices will be overpowering, but they aren’t. I also added 4 servings of angel hair when I added the chicken back in. I also used broccoli and nixed the siracha. Amazing base recipe, I just like to change things up.
Thanks for your feedback Samantha!
This was pretty tasty. I’d use thinner asparagus next time (I used some pretty thick pieces) and more than 1# of chicken, just didn’t seem like it was enough, but that’s just my preference.
Thanks for the feedback!
This was so good! Everyone loved it! I doubled the recipe for our family if 5 and cooked the chicken in two different batches. I loved the seasoning on the chicken. I may even use that sometime without adding the sauce and asparagus. 😁
So glad you liked it!
is chicken broth optional
Hi Christy,
This recipe looks delicious! Unfortunately I do not like asparagus (wish I did). Do you think I could substitute green beans or broccoli? I love your blog, have been following you for years😃
Hi there! I don’t see a reply yet but I am planning on using fresh green beans since I am not an asparagus fan.
I used zucchini instead of asparagus, you can sub in any veg
I used broccoli, and it was amazing!!
Made this tonight- turned out really good! Not a fan of spicy, but I put the sriracha in anyways, and it was just right- not too hot! I’m not a great cook, so it seemed like a lot of steps to make it, but worth it in the end. Thanks! 🙂
This is such a perfect weeknight meal! I need to add this to the menu for next week!
