The seasonings are simple. Salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
CHICKEN RECIPES:
Do I have to use boneless chicken breasts in this recipe? No. You can use chicken thighs or chicken tenders in this dish.
Asparagus is a great veggie for one-pan meals because it cooks quickly.
DO I HAVE TO USE ALL THE BUTTER?
Ever since I’ve done the Keto diet I’m not afraid of fat like butter. If you want, you can definitely cut the butter down for this recipe.
CAN I USE A DIFFERENT VEGGIE?
Asparagus works great here but you can also use broccoli, zucchini, green beans, or even Brussels sprouts.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH THIS?
This is a full meal in itself but if you want to spread it out serve over rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.

One-Pan Garlic Butter Chicken
Ingredients
CHICKEN SEASONING:
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, (see note)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon Italian parsley, minced
Instructions
- Place chicken in a medium bowl and toss with the spices (salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper).
- In a large skillet, melt over medium low heat half of the butter (1/4 cup) and 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
- Cook the chicken in the butter until all sides are golden brown being careful not to burn the butter. Add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for about 30 seconds. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet increase heat to medium high, add the remaining 1 teaspoon minced garlic then add the chicken broth to deglaze the pan. Add the remaining 1/4 cup butter, lemon juice, and sriracha.
- Add the asparagus and cook to desired tenderness. Add the chicken back to the pan and stir for another minute to reheat. Garnish the chicken and asparagus with parsley and lemon slices. Serve.
This was wonderful! So easy and tasty! My husband liked it so much and asked me to put it in our regular rotation recipes. Very glad to come across this.
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome!
This was delicious! I used a combo of chicken breast and thighs because it’s what ai had on hand. I took the asparagus out when it was done and then let the sauce cook down and thicken up for a few minutes. Added everything back in, and YUM! My picky eaters were in love. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Is there a substitute for butter or a way to reduce the amount of butter?thank you!!
You could definitely cut the butter in half if you want.
This was a winner for the family! It will be on repeat for sure! I did add extra garlic and onion powder to the chicken since we like a lot of flavor but it’s a perfect one pan meal!!!!Â
Thanks. Great additions!
Can anyone speak to how spicy this is? Or has anyone made it omitting the sriracha? Sounds amazing to me but my kids might just see the Sriracha come out of the cabinet and decide it’s “too spicy!”
My husband and 2 toddlers gobbled this. I served it over pasta and sprinkled a little bit of parm, it was a great meal!Â
So happy to hear!
We chose this recipe to host a weekly family “zoom” dinner due to covid. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Thank you for the recipe. It’s a keeper 😊
That’s amazing!
A winner with my family. My husband can be a little picky, but he declared this to be delicious. We all devoured it! (By the way, hubby has lost twelve pounds on the keto diet and a lot of the recipes I use to cook with….and our favorites….come from this site; they’re consistently easy and GOOD! My son has lost twenty five pounds as well, and this has been a tremendous help since he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes……A1C has dropped and he doesn’t need meds!)
Wow. That is amazing Vicki! I have seen the Keto diet change lives. My husband has a passion for it.
It was okay. Mine came out watery and white like one of the other reviews. Too much butter when initially cooking the chicken. It tasted fine, a little like chicken scampi. Probably would have again, just tweaking the measurements.
I love this recipe but mine is so watery and white, not like the picture so I feel like I did something wrong??
Was your chicken frozen or watery? The first step is when you brown the chicken so make sure your heat is high enough to get a good sear.
I loved this meal this was my daughters favorite dinner and the chicken was perfectly made.
Yay!! That’s great.
Great
Thank you!
Making this meal was not difficult. The ingredients was fairly simple and the directions where understandable. I was happy to find this recipe. I am going to enjoy eating this meal.
Thanks!
This has got to be the most bland chicken I have ever eaten. Wow, I am so surprised by the reviews!! You guys what is up with your taste buds?? 😬😳I had to modify basically change the recipe so that my non picky family would eat it. If you are used to flavor and spices skip this chicken. I really am considering starting a food blog and adding my home recipes.
I have never read such a horrible, hateful review in my life. There are so many ways to give your opinion about something in a constructive and polite way… you went out of your way to be mean. Do you speak to people this way face to face? If a friend served you dinner… would you say these things to her? I imagine if the answer was yes, you would have no friends to serve you dinner.
I certainly hope you do start a food blog so that you can get a really good taste of your own medicine. There seem to be a million of you Karen’s out there and you’re all in food blog comment sections.
So glad you told the truth as you saw it. It was professional and polite. I would back your communication skills any day, any time. You ROCK!!! Good luck with your endeavors and may others learn from this.
Agreed. Rude.
I’m sorry you didn’t like it. You can definitely add spices if you would like. I would love to visit your blog one day!
I appreciate your review because I’m having my extended family over for dinner tonight and wanted to make this but my mom has become so sensitive to any type of spices, even citrus, since she has been on chemotherapy and I was worried about the siracha. A couple other reviews said they added extra spices so between your review and theirs I think it will be okay for my sensitive mom and am going to give it a try. I am like you- I love a lot of flavor and a lot of spice- so I’ll probably keep the siracha on the table for those who’d like more of a kick. Thank you!
This was delicious, wouldn’t change a thing! Definitely would recommendÂ
Thank you!
Do you have to cut the chicken into pieces? Can you leave them whole?
The recipe says to cut them into bite sized pieces. I suppose you could leave them whole, they will just take longer to cook.
Great meal! Served it over jasmine rice with garlic naan. Loved how quickly it all came together. Definitely one for the rotation. Thanks for the recipe.
You’re welcome!
Are the nutrition facts including the asparagus? Also, your nutrition facts are stated for 1g? One gram? That seems off.
Sorry the recipe card was transferred and changed it to 1g. The recipe has 4 servings and the facts are for 1 serving. It does include the asparagus.
