ONE-PAN GARLIC BUTTER CHICKEN RECIPE
To say I enjoyed my holidays might be an understatement. It’s that time of year when the gym is packed and everyone is searching for easy healthy recipes to meet their nutritional goals.
This chicken recipe is simple but full of flavor. Healthy but still tastes like comfort food. Easy enough for a weeknight!
The seasonings are simple. Salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
CHICKEN RECIPES:
Do I have to use boneless chicken breasts in this recipe? No. You can use chicken thighs or chicken tenders in this dish.
Asparagus is a great veggie for one-pan meals because it cooks quickly.
DO I HAVE TO USE ALL THE BUTTER?
Ever since I’ve done the Keto diet I’m not afraid of fat like butter. If you want, you can definitely cut the butter down for this recipe.
CAN I USE A DIFFERENT VEGGIE?
Asparagus works great here but you can also use broccoli, zucchini, green beans, or even Brussels sprouts.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH THIS?
This is a full meal in itself but if you want to spread it out serve over rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.

One-Pan Garlic Butter Chicken
Ingredients
CHICKEN SEASONING:
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, (see note)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon Italian parsley, minced
Instructions
- Place chicken in a medium bowl and toss with the spices (salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper).
- In a large skillet, melt over medium low heat half of the butter (1/4 cup) and 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
- Cook the chicken in the butter until all sides are golden brown being careful not to burn the butter. Add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for about 30 seconds. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet increase heat to medium high, add the remaining 1 teaspoon minced garlic then add the chicken broth to deglaze the pan. Add the remaining 1/4 cup butter, lemon juice, and sriracha.
- Add the asparagus and cook to desired tenderness. Add the chicken back to the pan and stir for another minute to reheat. Garnish the chicken and asparagus with parsley and lemon slices. Serve.
Made this dish tonight. Hubs loved it. I didn’t have asparagus so I used zucchini I had on hand. I really think you could use most any green vegetable. I stayed true to the recipe. I didn’t have fresh parsley so I used dried. This recipe is highly adaptable to small changes. Easy to make on a rushed weeknight. Served with garlic cauliflower rice. It was fantastic!
Thank you!
This recipe was sooo delicious! I followed it almost exactly except left out the hot sauce (I have a 3-year old). Everyone loved it. I will definitely be making this again many times.
Awesome!
Taste delicious and was very easy to make!
Thank yoU!
Didn’t have any asparagus so tried it with string beans and it was delicious with some garlic roasted potatoes!
So glad you liked it!
loved this. we used broccoli instead since we had no asparagus
Great substitution!
We made this recipe this past week and loved it. My husband asked me to make it again tonight.
I’m trying to figure out if I can slow cook it because I want to make things easier today. 😂
Sure! I think you could but I haven’t tried it to be sure.
I made this yummy dish tonight. Perfect for a savory meal on a cold winter night. My husband love’s sriracha on everything. So it was a win for me. We will definitely be eating it again.
Thank yoU!
Delicious recipe but definitely takes longer than 20 minutes
Ok. Sorry it took longer for you.
Made this last night for dinner and it was amazing! The only thing I changed was I used honey sriracha (Heinz) and it tasted amazing! My boyfriend even said how good it was!!!!!
Sounds great!
Delicious! Added roasted garlic cloves at the end. (That I roasted beforehand.) So good. Made it vegan. Vegan “chicken” pieces, vegan butter (miyokos European style vegan butter), vegan “chicken” broth. So good.
We actually omitted the parsley because we had is with a side of “enfrijoladas” tortillas simmered in pinto beans & bean broth. We were just trying to use what we had on hand. I turned out so good!
Thank you!
Very good recipe! Little tip: add the chicken in batches to get a good browning instead of them all at once or you risk them steaming more. I used white wine instead of the broth just to enhance the flavor a bit. Excellent meal that was loved by all!
It’s nice to see some options for people with different types on diet for this chickenrecipe. And some of the ingredients could easily be swapped for more local, more available and even healthier alternatives when possible. Great recipe!
I also had too much liquid to brown the chicken but it was still delicious
Thanks!
Made this for dinner tonight. Was a gugr hit. Will be making it again.
Awesome! Glad to hear that!
You are totally right about the salt. I used table salt, and salted butter. It about killed me, but my family said it was the best chicken they ever had at home! Thank you.
Yeah it’s a deal breaker.
Outstanding, we loved this. Chicken was so tender. Served with rice. Did not have onion powder, so used onion salt (one tsp) and skipped kosher salt. Will definitely add to our g0- to’s.
AWesome to hear.
Just delicious! Shared the dish with my husband who said he could eat it 3 nights a week! PS- he’s fussy. Awesome meal- will mane again. Paired with Justin Cabernet.
That’s a win!
This was easy, delicious, and very flavorful! Will definitely be in the rotation. Thank you.
Thank you!
I didn’t have any thing on hand but fresh spinach so I wilted the spinach in that delicious sauce and served the chicken over and it was to die for!
Yum. Sounds great!
I made this recipe for dinner tonight. We were so please with the flavor and I liked it because it was an easy to do recipe. I like how it was cooked in one pan. Easy clean up. Really good!
Thank you!
Serving size?
There are 4 servings so I just divide it into 4.
How many servings is this?
This serves four!
Won’t print.
Shoot! Prints for me. Maybe try a different browser?
I am not sure where I went wrong. After adding the butter and oil in the beginning my chicken wouldn’t brown. There was too much liquid in the pan I think for it to brown. Did I just not give it enough time?
How big was your pan? That’s strange? If it was drowning it won’t brown.
Mine didn’t brown either. Pretty much looks like boiled chicken. Sad.
This was amazing! Hubby even liked it and he’s super picky. We didn’t have asparagus so I substituted in potatoes. Yummy!
Awesome to hear!
AMAZING. I used 1/4 cup salted butter and no salt. Served with a baked sweet potato sprinkled with cinnamon.
Great! Thank you!
Prepared with carrots instead of asparagus and it was a hit! Left out the hot sauce too.
Glad you liked it!
Recipe looks great and will be trying tonight.
The site is incredibly hard to use if trying to print the recipe!! Old school. LOL
Thank you for a great looking dish.
You’re welcome!
You can screen shot on your phone snd recipe will save in your photos
What if you dont have lemon juice
Very good but I made a few additions. I added cream to thicken sauce and soaked the chicken in buttermilk to soften it. I padded it dry and then added seasonings before frying. Yummy served with Gnocchis.
Gnocchi sounds great!
This is my new go-to recipe for chicken! And I’ve learned to like asparagus after all these years!
Haha well with butter sauce you can’t go wrong.
