Chicken A La King

I’m starting to think I have a real problem. I started this Chicken A La King post three weeks ago and never finished it. But it’s not just this post…I started reading 4 books and have yet to finish any of them. I love to wash laundry and dry laundry but can never get the folding done. AND I have 5 bottles of shampoo in my shower with an inch of shampoo left in them. Psychoanalyze me. What’s my deal? The only thing I can finish is an entire plate of brownies! Do I have adult A.D.D.?
I love having people over for dinner but I started realizing how expensive it was getting every time I ran to the grocery store to get ready for the meal. So I am always trying to come up with easy and inexpensive meals for entertaining. That’s the first thing that came to mind when I made this Chicken A La Kingrecipe. It’s easy, good, and cheap! Serve it over rice, noodles, toast, or a big fat biscuit like I did!

  1. If it makes you feel any better, I have 5 empty bottle in my shower with nothing in them and they still haven’t made it to the garbage can.
This recipe also makes me happy because I was just thinking the other day. How do you make homemade chicken a la king? Forget the stuff in the can.

  2. I am the same with shampoo I have no idea why I hate using the last little bit! I love Chicken a la king! My mom used to make it a lot growing up!

  3. I have the same issue in my shower, and at least you start the books! :) That chicken looks so good, especially on a biscuit! My tummy is growling now!

  5. I had to laugh when reading the first paragraph of your post because I thought you were doing a spotlight on me!!! I don’t know what it is but I can’t seem to finish even the smallest tasks nowadays. Good luck with trying to figure it out. If you do, let me know! And the Chicken a la King looks amazingly good in your pictures (my family recipe of it just doesn’t look as tasty EVER!)

  6. Um…yes, please!

  7. My grandma used to make the best recipe of Chicken a la king! I miss it so much. Your looks just like it! Awesome.

  8. Hmmm, I haven’t had this since I was a kid. Note to self, bookmark and make.

Eh, yeah-I currently have 4 shampoo bottles and 2 conditioners, 3 body washes and 2 razors going right now….

  9. Okay you guys…so glad I’m not the only one with the shampoo thing!!!

  10. I love your blog! and I love this recipe :) I make something very similar, but without the green pepper and with black olives and red onions– and only 1/2 the sauce. We put it INSIDE the biscuits before cooking them. Just flatten the biscuit and do like a foldover. Then the other half of the sauce becomes the sauce on top :) SO yummy! I’ll have to try your version :)

  11. That chicken al a king looks so creamy and good!
