PROTEIN BITES
Every day my kids come from school starving and I like to have something for them to snack on.
I love these Energy Bites but I don’t always have Chia seeds on hand. What I love about these protein bites are they are ingredients that I always have on hand.
INGREDIENTS
- OLD FASHIONED OATS – You can use quick oats but I like old fashioned better.
- HONEY – This binds the mixture all together. If your peanut butter is a little more dry, add a little honey.
- NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER – I buy this at Costco. They are the peanut butters that you have to stir. If you use a non natural peanut butter like Skippy or Jif the mixture will be drier. You can start by adding around 1 1/2 cups of oats and adding more until desired. You can always add more honey to make it less dry.
- VANILLA EXTRACT – Adds flavor.
- PROTEIN POWDER – I use Clean Simple Eats vanilla protein powder but any powder will do.
- MINI M&MS – These are healthy protein bites but these add a little fun and color.
- MINI CHOCOLATE CHIPS – These are a smaller version of regular chocolate chips which makes them easier to bite into.
- SALT – This just brings out all the flavors.

CAN YOU FREEZE THESE?
Yes. Store in a Ziploc freezer bag for up to 3 months.

Roughly how many calories are these?
The nutritional info is at the bottom of the recipe. Each ball is about 147 calories.
M&Ms are full of dyes as far as I know.
You don’t have to add them
Can you freeze these?
Hoping to prepare some ready for my babys birth.
Yes freeze them!
How many balls does this recipe make?
I am anxious to try it.
This makes about 22 tablespoon sized dolls
Congratulations in all respect !
Thanks!
Instructions say to mix all ingredients at one time. M&Ms should be mixed in last, as the color coating melted of during the mixing in. It also took over 1 additional cups of oats and over 1 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes (I ran out of oats and had to improvise) to get the mixture to be a consistency that I could work with to form balls. The mixture sticks to your hands more than itself otherwise. Taste ok, but a little in the sweeter side for my liking
Stephanie thanks for the tip about the m&ms but I’ve never had them run in color? What kind of peanut butter did you use? I’m not sure why they didn’t work for you.
