Candied Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Seriously…bacon in a chocolate chip cookie? But it’s not just bacon. It’s candied bacon. So it totally goes together, right?

My husband gave me weird looks as I was putting bacon into the cookie dough.

“Umm…WHAT are you doing?”

“Experimenting.” I said.
Let’s face it…a lot of my experiments have ended up in the trash. So for me to potentially be ruining a whole batch of perfectly good chocolate chip cookies was a little horrifying to him.
But the salty bacon and the sweet chocolate chip cookies were a sinful match made in heaven.
This candied bacon is a snack all in itself.

  1. hmmm.. I can see how this would be really tasty!

  2. i LOVE brown sugar on my bacon… my mom would do it all the time for breakfast… so i’m sure these are sinfully delicious as well!

  3. Oh my, I just forwarded this post to a friend of mine who is in LOVE with bacon. She’s always hounding me to make her a dessert with bacon, and I think this may have to be it! She says thank you ;)

  4. There’s a restaurant in Long Beach, CA that serves Chocolate Covered Bacon, it’s is actually very good. Will definitely need to try this recipe out!

  5. I just must try these soon

  12. Definitely going to check out your recipe!!

  13. I can’t think of a man on the planet who wouldn’t like these!

  14. My hero, I am such a major fan of the sweet+bacon. In fact, one of favorite treats I’ve made in a while is my Big Pig Bacon Bark…http://darcyeats.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/big-pig-bacon-bark/

    These look absolutely fantastic!

  15. Hmm… A little nervous, but I would totally try these!

  16. That looks amazing! I will never tire of the bacon trend!

  17. Love it. They look amazing!

  18. Yum! I’d totally eat these.

  19. I tried this recipe and it was sooo good! I like that the bacon ends up a close texture to raisins. All my friends were like “what in the world? ewww!” – I had to reassure them that it was amazing!

  20. I made these a couple of months ago for a friend at work who LOVES bacon and they were a hit. People were a little weirded out at first, but once they tasted one, they had to have another…and another…they are slightly addicting and the flavor grows on you the more you have them. I want to make them again so I can make extra candied bacon and just eat that…delicious!

  21. Does anyone know if these freeze well after baking or if it’s ok to freeze the cookie dough? I’ve frozen regular chocolate chip cookie dough balls with no problem. Thanks! These sound so good and “different”. I like that.

  22. This cookie is a good idea in theory but the basic chocolate chip recipe needs some tweaking. My cookies came out more cake like and the cookie itself was kinda blah. I would recommend using equal parts of brown and white sugar and adding a 1/2 – 1 tsp of salt to bring out the flavor.

  23. I tried these tonight, and they were wonderful, but I think the next time I make them I will use the full pound of bacon. My cookies had the bacon texture, but not the saltiness that I was expecting. I also will cook the bacon longer so it’s very crisp. Some of my bacon was more chewy than crisp, and I wanted the crisp texture to contrast with the melty chocolate. I love your blog and recipes!

  24. Hi, these look great! My other half has requested I make them for his 30th birthday. Is the oven temp for a Fan oven or a conventional oven? I have a fan oven and just want to be sure. Thanks x

  25. how long will these keep @ room temperature?

    • Christy {The Girl Who Ate Everything} says:

I think they would keep for a couple of days but with the bacon I guess you would probably want to refrigerate them.
