Magnolia Bakery's Famous Banana Pudding Recipe
This Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding Recipe has layers of creamy pudding, bananas, and Nilla wafers. It's heaven and way easier than you think! This is the ACTUAL banana pudding recipe from their cookbook.
Ingredients
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 ½ cups ice cold water
- 1 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix, (instant - NOT cook and serve)
- 3 cups cold heavy cream
- 4 cups sliced barely ripe bananas, (about 4-5 medium bananas)
- 1 (11 oz.) box Nilla Wafers
Equipment
Hand Mixer (for making whipped cream)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat together the sweetened condensed milk and 1 ½ cups ice cold water until well combined - about 1 minute. Add the pudding mix and beat well - about 2 minutes. Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight. It is very important to allow the proper amount of time for the pudding mixture to set. It will be watery if you don't let it set up long enough.
- In a large bowl, whip the 3 cups cold heavy creamream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until no streaks of pudding remain.
- Dessert can either be made in individual cups, a 4-5 quart large glass bowl or a 9x13 dish.
- Layer one-third of the wafers, one-third of the bananas and one-third of the pudding. Repeat twice, finishing with extra wafers or crumbs.
- Cover tightly and chill at least 4 hours and no more than 8, so the wafers soften but the bananas don't brown.

Notes
Keep bananas from browning: choose barely ripe fruit, keep them fully covered by pudding, brush lightly with lemon juice or rinse in club soda (not tonic). Making individual cups ahead: up to 12 hours, with the bananas covered in pudding.9x13: still three layers. 8x8: halve the recipe.
