Preheat oven to 350°F and line a cupcake pan with paper liners. Prepare cupcakes according to package directions. Let cupcakes cool.
Frost cupcakes. Sprinkle cupcakes with white sprinkles or sanding sugar.
Break the curved part of each candy cane so that you are left with the straight part of the candy cane as your pole (around 4 inches). Insert candy cane into the center of each frosted cupcake and tilt at a slight angle.
Place the red candy on top of the candy cane using a dab of frosting as your glue to secure it to the top.
Secure the North Pole sign using a dab of frosting.
