Easy Tin Foil Dinners

These Easy Tin Foil Dinners are sometimes called "Hobo" dinners. They're tried and true camping meals that are hearty and satisfying.

Course Main Course
Cuisine American
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes
Yield 4 servings

Ingredients

  • heavy duty foil
  • cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 - 1/2 pound thin beef patties, homemade or frozen
  • diced frozen hashbrowns (or cubed and peeled fresh potatoes)
  • sliced carrots
  • sliced onions
  • (optional) corn
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • seasonings: salt, pepper, onion powder, or garlic powder

Instructions

  1. All quantities are approximate. Spray foil with cooking spray. Spoon about 1/3 cup of cream of mushroom soup in the center of the foil.
  2. Place a hamburger patty in the center and top with potatoes, carrots, and onions.
  3. Season well with salt and pepper. Add additional spices as desired. I like garlic and onion powder. Steak seasoning is also good.
  4. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Fold up securely.
  5. Refrigerate or freeze until ready to use. Thaw frozen dinners before cooking.
  6. Cook over campfire coals for 45-90 minutes, checking periodically and turning and rotating until done. *My nieces and nephews like to eat theirs with ketchup.
