Patriotic Trifle Dessert
Patriotic Trifle has layers of strawberries, blueberries, pound cake, and cheesecake pudding! Make this for the Fourth of July!
PATRIOTIC TRIFLE
I know Memorial Day is a couple weeks away but I wanted to post this trifle. I was recently asked to submit a red, white, and blue dessert for a 4th of July feature in a couple of months and this is what I came up with. Memorial Day is not about celebration but about remembering those in the military who lost their lives for our country. Everyone has the day off so it lends its way to BBQs even though it’s not really a holiday to be “celebrated”. So if you plan to eat on Memorial Day and need a dessert why not make this Patriotic Trifle Dessert.
I came up with this recipe on my own. That doesn’t happen often but hey, it’s trifle…you kind of just throw things in. I love trifles because they serve a lot of people and are better when they are made ahead of time and have had time to sit and let the flavors blend. They are so versatile; you can use angel food cake, pound cake or even your favorite flavor of regular cake. This version has pound cake, cheesecake pudding, whipped cream, strawberries, blueberries and a hint of lemon.

Patriotic Trifle Dessert
Patriotic Trifle has layers of strawberries, blueberries, pound cake, and cheesecake pudding! Make this for the Fourth of July!
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 2 (3.4 ounce packages) instant cheesecake pudding mix
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 (10.75 ounce packages ) prepared pound cake
- 2 (16 ounce carton ) strawberries, sliced
- strawberries for garnish
- blueberries for garnish
Instructions
-
In a medium bowl, combine cream and white sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Set aside. You want a stiffer whipped cream for trifle so that it holds up over time.
-
In another bowl beat cheesecake pudding mixes with milk for 2 minutes or until thick. Mix in sour cream and lemon juice. Fold in one cup of the sweetened whipped cream.
-
Slice pound cake into one inch cubes.
-
In a trifle bowl, start by layering ¼ of the pound cake on the bottom of the trifle bowl (A large glass bowl can be used if you don't have a trifle bowl). Next, layer ¼ of the pudding mixture followed by a layer of ¼ of the strawberries. To make trifle look presentable make sure each layer is distinct and separate especially on the sides of the bowl. Repeat layers four times or until bowl is almost full.
-
Garnish the top of the trifle with the remaining whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries.
-
Chill in refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Variations:
1) The pound cake can be replaced by angel food cake for less calories.
?2) Vanilla pudding can replace the cheesecake pudding.
3) Add more blueberries throughout the trifle instead of just on top.
I have been looking for one of these bowls for about a year. There are so many things I could make in it, including your delicious treat. Please, please pick me!!!
This looks absolutely delicious. I am definitely going to try it and a trifle bowl would be awesome!!!!
This is the most impressive and pretty trifle I have seen. I just love the red, white and blue layers. So patriotic! I will certainly try this recipe.
Thank you soooo much for sharing!

I wish I had seen this recipe sooner. I’ve already shopped for all my dessert ingredients (all four of them) for tomorrows bbq. I didn’t know they made trifle bowls with lids. This is definitely something I’ll look into.
I love to make edible creations that look beautiful! I bake all the time but don’t have a trifle bowl yet and would LOVE one!
That looks amazing! Gorgeous! I’ve made a lot of things (check out my blog,) but a trifle hasn’t been on one of them yet. Hope I win, and I will make one! But I promise it won’t include beef sautéed with peas and onions.
I always have to borrow my friends trifle bowl which is every couple of months. Having my own would be so much easier and less of a hassle and wouldn’t have to drive 25 minutes to get it.
Oh, no! I would absolutely have to eat too much of anything displayed in this! This recipe’s beautiful and would be perfect for an early summer barbeque. I can also see this filled with an old-fashioned banana pudding! 🙂
I have always wanted to make a dessert like this but I have never found a recipe that I liked until now. I have a large clear bowl that I plan on using. I’m so excited to make this for my family.

I would love to win
It’s beautiful, patriotic, fairly nutritious and it sounds delicious! I’m always looking for desserts for my diabetic husband who stays away from sugar. I would have to use the sugar free Jello (hope it comes in cheesecake flavor), if not, I’ll just use vanilla. I have found sugar free angel food cakes in the bakery section at our grocery or would probably bake the sugar free yellow cake mix that I’ve found-Might even use the chocolate cake! Will have to substitute “free” Cool Whip for heavy cream so it won’t be quite as yummy and rich. I wouldn’t think you could whip cream with a sugar substitute. What do you think? Thanks so much for sharing.
I think the free Cool Whip is a good substitute and I would stick with that. Good luck! I think it will be tasty.
this Tr

Was looking for a great trifle dessert recipe for our end of season 11 year old girls’ volleyball team…I wanted something semi healthy. Loved the recipe with fruit and with adding the angel food cake…keeping the wonderful, all natural whipping cream though! Would love a bigger trifle since I can’t fit it all in my little trifle dish. First time on your blog…I’m trying to add better nutrition to our family’s diet with a change in menu! Appreciate the help!
Looks great. Can’t wait to try it.
Making this for our Mardi Gras Krewe’s crawfish boil !!! Need to buy a trifle bowl though. It allows this beautiful and yummy dish to be seen !
Making this for our Mardi Gras Krewe’s crawfish boil !! It would look awesome in a trifle bowl like yours. Please put my name in the giveaway.
I made this trifle with just a few variations for my daughter’s engagement party and our guests were raving about it all night! It is absolutely delicious! I used homemade buttermilk pound cake and Instead of just adding the blueberries on top, I added them on top of each strawberry layer and I tossed in a few blackberries to each layer too. I also topped each layer with a very thin layer of the whipped cream. It was scrumptious! The only thing I did wrong was not making enough for seconds!!
I just saw this on Pintrest, so obviously I’m not in the drawing! As you can see by my website, I AM a Pampered Chef consultant and if you don’t currently have a consultant, I’d be more than happy to help you! I’m so glad you love your Trifle Bowl! I totally love mine, too. Hope your winner is enjoying her bowl!
Definitely consider that that you said. Your favourite reason appeared to be on the internet the simplest thing to bear in mind of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while other folks consider worries that they just don’t recognise about. You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and also defined out the entire thing with no need side effect , other people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
I made this Patriotic Trifle and blogged about it. Check it out at My Kitchen Addictions.

I will tell you, I made PC’s Red, White, and Blueberry Trifle this past Memorial Day for our cookout, and it was ok, but not as pretty as yours is! I can’t wait to try yours!!!

Good luck, and love your blog!!

Don’t know if you’re still getting comments to this post, but want to just add, you mention you’re not a Pampered Chef consultant? I am one (in Canada mind you) and wonder WHY NOT??!?!? You so should be – you get great tools and get to go out and socialize with others who love to bake, cook just like you. Anyway, can’t recruit in the US so this isn’t a true recruiting schpiel, but just thought I’d put it out there…your blog is great, recipes all look incredible and I bet you’d be awesome selling Pampered Chef!
I made this today for a Memorial Day family dinner. It was the hit of the show. Even my fussy 4 year old grandson loved it! Thank you so much for a really great trifle recipe. It was as tasty as it was pretty. YUM
