Bunless Fiesta Hamburgers

If you’re vegetarian you may want to look away…

…because I think my burger ate my other burger.

Eleven years ago when I was single and a bowl of budget friendly broccoli was considered dinner, I never imagine that someday my husband would request that I make this. He saw it in his Muscle & Fitness magazine and ripped it out for me to make for Father’s Day but I made it early.

I have to admit when I first saw it I was a little disgusted. I like myself a burger but good grief. But it was delicious! Definitely dude food packed with protein and minus the carbs.
You’ve got the burger topped with a fried egg, avocado, salsa, and cheese. If you’ve never had an egg burger you are missing out. Unless, you hate eggs…then I don’t know what to tell you.
You could downsize this into normal person sized portions, use ground turkey, or even add a bun. But don’t leave off the egg. It makes the whole burger.

Bunless Fiesta Hamburgers

  • Yield: 1 gigantic burger

  • 1 lb 85% lean ground beef
  • Montreal steak seasoning
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1 cup Mexican shredded cheese

  1. Preheat your grill. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of seasoning into the beef in a large bowl. Shape two hamburgers out of the ground beef (or smaller ones if you don’t want one gigantic burger). Grill burgers until desired doneness.
  2. While burgers are grilling fry your eggs in a skillet until yolks are slightly set but still runny. Top each grilled burger with one fried egg, half and avocado, half of the salsa, and half of the shredded cheese.

  2. We had our first egg burger in Maui 5 years ago and I always make them with a fried egg…so good!!!

  4. We both had bunless burgers on the brain today!

  5. What a burger! YUM!

  6. My husband loves fried eggs on his burgers. I usually order a hamburger without a bun, so that I am sure I can have room to eat the rest of the food. So this is a great recipe for us, I think I will stick with one burger though. Thanks for some great recipes.

  7. hOLEY CRAP! A pound of meat. hahahahaha I cannot stop laughing thinking of anyone eating a pound of meat. hahaha but an NFL player, heck yes hahaha Blows me away!

  8. Holey Moley! That is definitely an Atkins meal if I ever saw one!

  9. This sounds amazing and I already know my husband would start drooling over just the picture! Will definitely be attempting this one 🙂

  13. I will take half of that slap it on a toasted bun and bite into a bit of heaven…YUM! Bonus points to your hubby and you for sharing…

  14. Mmm, that looks goood. I think I could probably only handle one patty though.

  15. I eat all my burgers bunless but I have never tried eggs… it sounds delicious! The combination of eggs and avocado is awesome so I can imagine how great this burger is.

Obviously this wasn’t meant to be health food, but just for fun I put it into Weight Watchers to see how bad it really is…. 50 points (I get 28 per day!!!)! I may have to try a toned-down version of this in the near future : )

  16. This is insane! Luckily so am I!

  17. This looks just so good! My boys would love me more if I were to make this for them lol!

  18. Ummm — but where is the kitchen sink???

  19. Great for a quick go to dinner when all you have defrosted is hamburger meat! I did have to adjust the portion size and used what I had on hand, but all in all it was a hit with my husband and went great with a blue cheese salad! My husband and i are really enjoying the recipes on your website!
