Merry Christmas

Hey, guys. Christmas always is the time that makes me think about the things that are really important in life and to celebrate Christ’s birth. Especially this Christmas we’ve been reminded that our family and friends are some of our greatest treasures.

I just wanted to tell you that I really appreciate you guys and love hearing your stories and reading your comments. Although we all love of food, we have so much more in common. Thank you for coming back everyday. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas filled with love.

Love, The Denneys

Here are some of our favorite family traditions on Christmas Eve:

- Making sugar cookies for Santa and leaving carrots for his reindeer.
- Santa’s elves always get a little carried away and wrap the top of the stairs in wrapping paper. That way no one sneaks down AND the kids get to break through it WWF style on Christmas morning. It just makes it hard if mom forgets something and has to go downstairs in the middle of the night.
- Sprinkling this “Magic Reindeer Feed” on the lawn for Santa’s reindeer.
- Opening one gift…pajamas. Wah…wah….waahhhh.
- We order pizza. This came from my husband’s side of the family. It’s a great idea because the day is so crazy anyway.
- My husband and I always stay up watching classic Christmas movies and wrap presents.

  4. Merry Christmas to your beautiful family!

  5. Merry Christmas! It’s afternoon on Christmas day here in Australia :)

I generally end up cooking a dessert or my white choc fudge the night before, and last minute wrapping. This year I completely ran out of time and ended up wrapping gifts in the morning – and I don’t even have kids yet…yeeesh!

  6. Gorgeous little family! I’m in love with your dress!

  7. What sweet traditions– and a great family photo! Merry Christmas!

  8. What an awesome family picture, Christy! I love your Christmas Eve traditions…we have many of the same ones and I just might adopt the ordering pizza thing. Happy New Year!

  9. Love this picture of your family!

  10. What a beautiful family! We usually have something simple like pizza or a nice pasta meal – watch Christmas Vacation and just sit around with a few drinks! Oh…and church:)

  11. I love the idea of the elves getting carried away on the stairs. I need to remember that for future! Our Christmas Eve tradition is ordering pizza with my dad’s side of the family. It’s fun to hear that others share the tradition too! Happy Holidays!

What a great picture. You have a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing and thank you for all the great recipes. The ham and cheese sliders are a monthly favorite of ours. Luv, luv, luv ‘em. Hope u had a great Holiday season! We’re looking forward to more great food in 2013.

  17. I’m a little behind in my blog reading but had to comment on this. First of all, the photo is beautiful! That little girl is just too delicious and your boys are adorable. I currently have three boys, ages 16, 12, and 11. It only gets crazier and more fun.
Second, I love the idea of wrapping the top of the stairs to keep the kids at bay! Maybe for grandkids I guess.
Finally, I am SOOOOO glad I’m not the only one with a Christmas Eve Pizza tradition! My parents and my brothers and I always used to go to Pizza Hut on Christmas Eve and have dinner, then drive around all the neighborhoods and look at people’s Christmas light displays. I still always have pizza on Christmas eve. When I lived overseas and we didn’t have delivery pizza places, we would make the pizza, but it was always ALWAYS pizza on Christmas Eve.

Glad to hear you had a very Merry Christmas!

    • Shannon,
How funny? Pizza Hut dine in is what my husband’s family always did. There aren’t any dine ins around here so we order out.
